NAN Gallery was established in 1980 by a reputable artist , Lin Fu-Nan , and a painting-oriented writer , Huang Yu-Lin , with the degree of Master of Art granted by National Taiwan Normal University , the graduate school of fine arts .

In the beginning , NAN Gallery started to exhibit modern arts by representing many globally well-known artists of Taiwan-origin like Zao Wou-Ki , Walasse Ting , Yao Ching-Jang , Hilo Chen etc.

The functions of NAN Gallery had been determined clearly right from the outset .

1. To introduce the imported paintings of talented artists abroad to Taiwan as the first step .

2. To dedicate to the education of the general public in Taiwan about the essence of arts by means of publishing books and pamphlets of painting collections , both home and abroad , and introducing the talented artists with their personal background and painting history .

3. To bridge the artists and the general public via regular painting exhibitions at NAN Gallery .

4. To facilitate the international exchange of modern arts and paintings of “ Taiwan School “ .

NAN Gallery has been diligently carrying out the first three functions ever since its establishment in 1980 . After running the gallery for 26 years , it is now the time for NAN Gallery to perform the fourth function—the international exchange of modern arts and paintings of “ Taiwan School “ .
